Meet Cute Market Debuts in Uptown Athens
A new kind of book fair is debuting in Uptown Athens, Ohio this month. The Meet Cute Market is a Bookish Fair for Adults hosted by The Novel Notion, an Athens-based small business bringing back book fair nostalgia with handcrafted goods for bibliophiles, in partnership with Clutch Collective.
On Saturday, September 19th, the Meet Cute Market will pop-up at Central Venue on Carpenter Street, near the Athens Armory celebrating books, creativitiy, and community. In the spirit of the beloved Scholastic Book Fair, the market will feature books for every kind of reader, bookish merchandise and literary gifts, local artists, makers, and small businesses, and a community of readers.
“I built The Novel Notion around the idea that books have a unique ability to bring people together, and Meet Cute Market is a perfect extension of that mission,” said Sam Miller, owner of The Novel Notion. “This event gives people a place to connect over their shared love of reading while discovering talented local makers, supporting small businesses, and celebrating the incredible bookish community we have here in Southeast Ohio.”
While the Novel Notion and Clutch Collective have partnered to host several book fairs for adults in Marietta, OH, the Meet Cute Market is their first vendor market. Sam and Sarah Arnold, owner of Clutch Collective, are eager to bring this event to Athens.
“Athens felt like the perfect place to bring Meet Cute Market because of its vibrant creative community and its love of local businesses,” said Miller. “We’re excited to create a space where readers, artists, makers, and small businesses can come together, and we hope Meet Cute Market becomes something people look forward to every year.”
Featured artists include Corrissa Flesher Art & Designs, FabArtCo, Halftone Books, Hope’s Visual Vibes, Lilahbloom Jewelry, Sara & Sybil, The Beard and The Bun Pottery, The TBR Turtle, and Violet-tressed.
While general admission is free and open to all, those interested in early access can purchase VIP tickets for $30 each. VIP ticket holders will enjoy exclusive early access to the market before doors open to the general public in addition to a Meet Cute Market tote bag full of goodies, discounts and more!
